Intermittent hot water

Not sure if anybody can help. We have a gas boiler that for the passed few days has only been giving out intermittent hot water, it'll run hot for 30 seconds or so then cold then hot again. The boiler is the worlds oldest Baxi(?). No fault lights showing. Landlord could not be less interested but we can't even run my DD a bath. Any ideas?

Forgot to say, heating clicks in fine by obviously not in use at the moment.

Is it a combi boiler?

If so, your heat exchanger is probably on the way out.

You can "trick" it sometimes by only having the taps turned to half rather than full flow.

Ultimately you'll need a new heat exchanger though.

@dannydyerismydad yes it's a combi, we've been doing the half tap thing for years. Everyone who comes to repair it says it needs replacing but landlord won't do it.

I was just hoping there was something we could do to get it going over the weekend until he'll send someone next week
