Best place to buy Armchair from

I am looking to buy a reasonably priced armchair for our living room. What are some good websites to order from? Lots of options on Wayfair but are they good? Looking to spend just around 300 pounds. Any other websites? I keep seeing advertisements from companies I have never heard of.

What sort of armchair are you after? Some sellers on wayfair are great. Others are not. You can't really judge it as a website as a whole (like eBay for example). Other places for armchairs are really varied - I've recently bought a statement armchair from Made.com, have also bought from Myakka.

SofaSofa are absolutely brilliant and have a lot of choice around that price point.

Dunelm have some nice armchairs within a good price range at the moment and I find Sofolofy to have a good selection. If you're on a budget but are looking for a bargain buy, I'd keep an eye on eBay; you can get some amazing bargains on there at the min with everything that's going on, you just need to sieve through the bad ones Smile

trade-secret.co.uk/

@mumsy27, have never heard of the website. Is it a legit website? have you bought from it personally?

Trade Secret are legit. We’ve bought a few pieces in person at their warehouse in Oxfordshire (obv closed at the moment).

Wait until lockdown is over then check out the furniture charity shops. Always have a bargain.

I would now never buy an armchair (or a sofa) online. It is so important that it's comfortable, and you really need to try them first. I bought a sofa and armchair from SofaSofa last year and the chair was so bad it gave my h a bad back, and the sofa isn't much better. There's a reason why they are cheap. We replaced the chair within 6 weeks - with something that he had actually tried. It will be a few years before we can replace the bloody awful sofa.

YippieKayakOtherBuckets · 20/04/2020 09:28

Sorry to hear you had a bad experience, @longearedbat. We've been really pleased with our pieces from SofaSofa. They do offer a 21 day home trial period so you can send back anything that doesn't work for you free of charge. We live too far from their showroom to have tried their stuff in person and we wouldn't have ordered if they hadn't had that guarantee.

longearedbat · 20/04/2020 12:09

Yes @YippieKayakOtherBuckets, I wish I had sent it back, but we thought it was because we had been used to our squashy old ones for too long, and we were just having to sit differently. By the time we had decided it was unsuitable, the time frame for returns had gone.
We bought a recliner each from a local shop eventually. The only people who sit on the sofa now are guests (none of them at the moment) and the dog!

ChocoTrio · 23/04/2020 21:52

@lockedown Did you find an armchair?

If you want something a bit more unique then have you tried etsy? They have some pretty interesting armchairs on there and there are some bargains too!

I like etsy because it sometimes feels like I'm supporting a small, more local, business. Some places have really interesting bespoke furniture that means having a more individual and distinct look.

Don't use Barker and Stonehouse. Expensive and the quality is extremely poor. We have a sofa and chairs from them and they have worn awfully. Cushions sagging etc .
