Painting help for divan base

As anyone painted a divan base, mines looking a bit grubby now and thought I could spruce it up.

Thing is I don’t know what type of paint it would
Take. Absorb ? I don’t want it to break up from becoming hard though
Anyone done this?

Hi, not sure about paint but maybe you could try a bed base wrap, I've seen them on Amazon.

Is it wooden? Use an internal eggshell paint over a primer and undercoat. Wash it down first. If it’s fabric there not much you can do.
