Can someone explain why people are still putting their homes on the market at this point? When people can't even come and view them?

Genuinely interested if anyone has done this, as I was actually going to be putting mine on over the next month or so, but decided there likely wouldn't be any point.

Because people can still look online, make enquiries and get ready to view. Some people might have buyers set up for theirs, but not found anywhere

I think a lot are places which were under offer and fell theough Cos of current situation so are coming back on

There are 3 houses in my area that went onto rightmove on 25/03, two of them are now under offer. I'm not sure of the intricacies but people are still agreeing to buy.

Yeah two places I’d intended to look at before everything went nuts went under offer last week.

I’m guessing stuff that’s still coming on has pics and floor plans all done week before last - in which case I reckon it’ll slow down now. There was definitely stuff still coming on round here last week, a couple more today.

also people who are looking to move for catchment area for schools in September could be making offers so they can show that they intend to move to certain areas

People have a lot of time to look online and staying inside their homes highlights any shortcomings, which may encourage them to think about a move.

We took ours off the market , as we didn’t want strangers traipsing through the place , who may have the virus ( or indeed us , infecting them ) now regretting it slightly as maybe people have more time on their hands and are doing the fantasy house looking up online ?
