Help on living room layout?

Picture 1: move doorway so we're able to have a bigger corner sofa, and may be able to have tv on wall if we wanted. Also we will be building a small garage and utility onto the kitchen, so would need a door going out there anyway so would put that door behind door I've added on in the kitchen.

Picture 2: is the layout we've got now, but the wall the small sofa is on isn't long enough for a corner sofa, can only fit a 2 seater on.
Just wondering which one you think would work better or what you would go for? Thankyou! Any suggestions welcome, or if my idea is crazy tell meGrin

I like the u shaped kitchen and would be unwilling to lose that. It don’t understand what you mean about the extra door to an extension.

What about having the tv in the wall backing onto the stairs and a sofa opposite?

Lay out 2. First one means your living room is a glorified hall to the kitchen.

Better still layout 2 with a wall built to create a hallway next to the stairs.

go with option 2, otherwise both rooms with be like a corridor with people always walking through.

Sofas opposite might work

I thought you were going to propose the change to layout 2. Layout 1 doesn’t make any sense as you’re turning it into a corridor

I don't understand why moving the door from one end of the room to the other would allow you to have a bigger sofa. Also cutting into the U of the kitchen would severely compromise the worktop and storage space in the kitchen.

Are the stated dimensions of the living room a typo? Do you know what the measurements are?

Your 3rd diagram is the one I like the best. I was going to say, don't move thedoors, move your tv!

Third diagrammed is a suggestion from me, not the OP !
