Paying a trader with a credit card - paypal?

We are a bit low on funds at the moment to do a regular bank account transfer.

Has anyone paid a trader online using a credit card and how is best to do this? Paypal?
I did offer to pay off his account with the local trade merchant but he'd rather a direct payment.

You can draw cash from an ATM or transfer it from the card into your bank, but there will be a charge.

I assume from what you say that the trader does not accept card payments.

Paying by a card (not by PayPal) gives you extra consumer protection.

The trader has given us his bank account details for payment. He doesn't have a card reader. Normally I'd do a bank transfer from my current account but we are nervous about using savings at the moment. I have a 0% on spending credit card and I was hoping to pay him using this somehow. I'll chat to him again.
