Open shower

I’ve made a huge mistake and got an open shower. The length of the panel is 140cm and the other side is 90. I have a screen that’s 100cm. The other end also has a 50cm screen.

If I put a foot towel on the floor it’s ok but I felt like I wasn’t showering properly :(

Anyone else have any tips? Or has a similar shower?

What exactly is the problem?

Mosaic123 · 19/03/2020 12:47

Are you saying that the water comes out while you are showering? We bought a flat with an open shower which allows water on the (very slippery when wet). I put a thin towel on the floor and slippers next to the towel. I also mop the floor with a dry flat mop every time. So annoying. We will probably change it in the future.

Yes they look great. It total PITA. I just wipe up with the bath mat. I also tilt the shower head towards the wall. I won’t be having another

Yes tilting the shower helped a lot! Plus who wants wet hair! @bugaboob

You can get a small hinged panel that you sit on the end. It allows you to angle it so that water splashes back into the shower tray

BubblesBuddy · 19/03/2020 17:56

Why did you have the screen shorter than the shower? A 1400mm glass screen would have been perfect. Can you get a new glass screen for the whole length of the shower?

BubblesBuddy · 19/03/2020 17:57

I meant to say that ours is 1400 with the screen the same size and it’s fine. Under floor heating soon dries up the odd splash.

BigRedBoat · 19/03/2020 18:26

I love love love your floor tiles!

What you want is called a return panel. It is hinged which allows you to still easily get in and out of your shower, but helps stop water from getting out of the enclosure.

BubblesBuddy · 19/03/2020 19:33

Ours has no short run of glass. Just one long piece that runs the full length. I think this shower cannot be spewing that much water out. Your entrance is small!

Manchestermanchester · 19/03/2020 20:58

Thanks everyone.

I went on the internet and had so many mixed reports with what was good and bad.

@BubblesBuddy yes I like to over dramatise sometimes. I’m also getting a lodger so I don’t know how careful they are. I think it’s first day nerves! I think I deceived on the screens because I was worried that the water would come out the other end. At least I have the option of putting up the screen or if I really dislike I can put up another screen. Buyers remorse is a”bad.

@Muchlywrong yes he suggested a hinge panel, but I don’t want the look of it. But yes an option.

@BigRedBoat yes me too. Metro Tiles for reference. I’m obviously trying to alienate my next buyers with the tiles, open shower, tiny bath, white floor tiles haha.

Is you bathroom tanked? A waterproof membrane below the floor all around the shower? If we have our rain head on full power we do get splashes but the bathroom is tanked and we have the underfloor heating.

In your case, just get really absorbent bath mats and hope you get a sensible lodger! As others said, angle the shower head towards the wall. The shower looks lovely to me! It will be fine!

BubblesBuddy · 20/03/2020 07:38

A tiny bath would upset me more!! Ha!

Manchestermanchester · 21/03/2020 14:12

@BubblesBuddy thanks :)

No it’s not ranked, just has those waterproof boards, Jack boards or something.

Open shower I cold I think!

obvious form-over-function design fuckup. You'll need a door but that's not going to be happening for a while, sorry. Meantime use that towel.

BubblesBuddy · 28/03/2020 17:22

It really is a great design and not having a shower door is perfectly ok. We never have a towel at the end of ours. It just dries with the underfloor heating. No issues. You don’t need a door.
