No downstairs loo,
No utility room [yet]
Clayey, sloping garden that needs ripping out completely,
Tiny bathroom with 1960's yellow suite [shortly to be replaced,hurray}
Small kitchen with 1970's units that bits keep dropping off.
Walls so thin we can hear our neighbours sneezing.
Decor in whole house so bad it has to be seen to be believed. The previous owner even painted over the blutack on the bedroom walls, rather than removing it.

giant holes in walls in every room due as had to rewire entire house and builder won't get off arse to fix it.

Black dust everywhere from said holes

No carpets

Bare walls

Garden looks like council tip

No off street parking

It's at top of VERY steep hill

No curtains

Grass snakes in garden

The fact that we bought the house 3 months ago and have not finished a single room yet

But I love...

kitchen

bathroom

huge garden even if DD can't play in it yet

nice area

First house me and DP bought together

southeastastra · 08/09/2007 21:03

the roof

hoxtonchick · 08/09/2007 21:10

no one wants to buy it (ok, it's only been on the market for 3 days & isn't on the web yet, but still...).

Tutter · 08/09/2007 21:11

we rent, so technically not my house, but...

mahoosive spiders
no downstairs study

NotAnOtter · 08/09/2007 21:17

its got furniture bunged up to the ceiling in lots of rooms
its decoratively very very tired
it desparately needs huge overhall or rplacement of all timber sashes which are falling out of the frames

it has a hideous drive and integrated yes integrated cellar level garage (its 125 years old)

it has wooden worktops
it has gold coving
it has no heating in two rooms

otherwise i LOVE IT and truly it is my dream house

Roskva · 08/09/2007 21:20

no parking
tiny garden (well, largish patio actually)
it's right on the street (no front garden) so can be noisy when the drunks stagger out of the rugby club in the early hours of Sunday morning

oh, and if we forget to lock the front door, an elderly lady who lives up the road tends to wander in because there used to be a tea shop here

but

we have a stunning view from our first floor loungs
it is very spacious - huge kitchen diner and dh, who works from home, has a massive office

which in my view make up for the defects, but not in dh's

xcupcakemummyx

(why the x's?) you are pretty!

mumblechum · 10/09/2007 22:36

I was going to have a whinge about the fac t that ours is quite ugly imo from the outside but having read some of what other people are putting up with, I think I should stop being such a drip.

LucyJones · 11/09/2007 07:58

we've (fingers crossed) just bought a new house. Here is what is wrong with it;

all the decor is very dated because an old woman lived in it for years and years
the lounge is pink, pink carpet, pink walls, it looks like an old ladies powder room!
kitchen is very dated - red and white units, floor needs doing
sliding door on downstairs toilet and one of the bedrooms
loft without a light in so I shudder to think what lives up there!!

rica · 04/11/2007 01:31

We live in a 1 bedroom house (living room, cons, kitchen (2m*2m)and double bedroom, tiny courtyard). To all this add a 13 month old very active DS and a husband. Although I really like our house I think it is safe saying that the whole house must go. Small problem - we can't move.... So what do I hate about my house - everything I don't have.

no ensuite and a pokey bathroom with awful tiles from ceiling to floor - you know the ones where 5 or 6 tiles make a bigger picture of a vase of flowers? an even more awful greeny (luckily not avocado!) bathroom suite and a hideous green carpet. can't wait to rip the lot out.

mankyscotslass · 04/11/2007 07:28

Tiny kitchen
No downstairs loo
Lack of storage

Bouncingturtle · 04/11/2007 07:32

North facing garden, compounded by the fact it is a odd shape - makes for a big house, but garden is mostly in shadow except in the height of summer! So hard getting the washing dry!
Anyone buying a Barratt home, FGS don't buy an Eskdale with North facing rear garden!

arfishy · 04/11/2007 07:59

Ours is ok. We need another bathroom seeing as DP spends about 85% of his waking hours in the one that we've got.

And I'd quite like an acre or two for the chickens that I want but can't quite shoe-horn into our courtyard.
