My bathroom cold tap is starting to run really slow, and getting slower. any ideas on what causes this, or how to fix it?

is it just one of the taps?

does it have a knob or capstan that rotates several times, and screws up and down (rather than a ceramic tap with just a quarter turn)?

If so, it is probably the washer or the horseshoe clip has come out of place. Buy a new washer and a set of spanners, turn off the water, put the plug in and an old towel in the basin; take the tap apart, observe how it works, clean the brass parts with a green scourer, fit the new washer, put the horseshoe clip back in it groove if misplaced, lube the moving parts with silicone grease if you can find any, put it back together, turn on the water, take the old towl and plug out.

A lifetime's supply of washers will cost you less than £2 and next time you will do it in ten minutes.

If you prefer ceramic taps, it will cost much more.

Once you know how, you can charge people £30 a time.

you'll find a part inside that screws up and down on a left-hand thread. Don't know how to describe it but when when you take it apart, you'll see if it's jamming or has come out too far. You just put it all back together, cleaned and lubed, so it all moves freely.

the youtube vids will show you.
