Bathroom renovation: places to buy from, places to avoid?

Happy coffee Sunday ☕️

We're renovating our bathroom and I need to start ordering all the items (bath, taps, basin, vanity etc.)

Please tell me the best places to buy from (in-store or online) and where I need to avoid like the plague.

Any positive or negative experience greatly welcome!

I’ve heard Ripples are meant to be good but don’t have any first hand experience. I was doing to look at wickes but TBC after reading a post here!

@december2020

Thank you got all your help!!

I realised I never replied and wanted to share our final renovation picture.

Couldn't have done it without your help (and our amazing builder/tradesman for installing).

Can you tell me where you got your wall tiles from please?

@Maricoco it feels all the bit more harder at the moment as our only real option is shopping online. I know some of these stores are open but I get the impression they are discouraging "general browsing"

@NoraEphronsNeck Topps Tiles Smile
They were kind and gave us a discount as the cardboard boxes the tiles came in had a tiny bit of damage (tiles were untouched and unharmed and we got to see them before agreeing - not helpful with covid I know). Also worth checking if your tradesman gets discount there (ours let us use his traders discount rates as well).

Avoid b&q. They came and measured up, got various things wrong, even basics like width of the shower door (this was a few years ago)

More recently I've ordered goods from plumbing world, and found them competitively priced. They've offered good customer service over the phone and on email and orders have been prompt. I'd use them again.

Victorian plumbing have been a bit shit, I ordered an expensive shower caddy from there. It arrived with torn packaging wrapped badly in a bit of bubble wrap. Turned out it didn't fit where I needed it to so I bought extra bubble wrap, and returned it at my own expense in better packaging than it arrived in. They then had the nerve to email me photos of their crap torn packaging and say they wouldn't be refunding me as I'd damaged it! I did get a refund in the end after arguing about it.
