Chemical anchors??

Has anyone had this done? It appears to be the version of wall ties for solid stone walls. One side wall of the house we are buying was replaced due to the Edwardian mortar decaying and the wall bowing out back in the nineties. Our survey has picked up the same fault beginning in the side return wall. We’ve booked a special report from a specialist but won’t have the results for over 2 weeks from now, maybe 3. We may well be at the point of exchange before then and cannot delay because of school place issues.

Has anyone had this done who can provide a rough cost? If it’s 2k I’m not worried, if it’s 5 or over then I need to have a think really! Not sure vendor will reduce at all regardless and we really don’t want to walk away from it unless necessary.

When you say your survey, was it picked up in a building survey or a homebuyers or was this something that was picked up buy the surveyor who carried out your mortgage valuation? If it was the surveyor for the mortgage valuation, the mortgage may well rely on the outcome of the specialist report you get on the new movement and how the specialist recommends proceeding and therefore you won’t get to exchange before then.

No, it was a privately commissioned full survey. The mortgage survey passed without a hitch.

I can’t even see the bow in the wall tbh. But I’m not trained to look for it. He did say we’re unlikely to get an issue with it in the next few years, but in 5 years he thinks it’ll become pressing. I’d rather fix it now and factor that cost into the price.
