Creating a laundry drying cupboard

Has anyone experience of creating a kitchen cuboard as a laundry drying cabinet by inserting an extractor fan?

Having a small kitchen diner extension but layout wouldn't work to include a utility room. Its been suggested by our builder to have a full height cupboard to house washing machine and drier with space next to it for an airing rack for things that cant go in the drier and insert an extractor through the roof. Just wondered if anyone has tried this and how effective it would be?

I have a walk-in drying room inside my house. I have a dehumidifier in there which I have to empty, but if you are building from new next to a washing machine you may well be able to plumb the dehumidifier outlet into the drain.

It gets warm in there. The heat from the dehumidifier helping dry the clothes. Having an extractor fan would suck all that useful heat out your roof.

I built hooks into the ceiling of my drying room which lets me hang sheets (folded on a hanger) indoors and they dry pretty quickly.

Hope this helps.

I think you need a dehumidifier not an extractor too.

Warm air holds more moisture than cold air. Creating airflow with an extractor is a really good idea. Extractors are cheap to run too.

We are debating this at the moment. We will be changing the radiator in the kitchen to an upright then looking to put in an ikea pax. Put some vents in the top and hole at the bottom to run the dehumidifier cable then two poles to hang the clothes. We currently hang everything on a pole above the radiator and have the dehumidifier running but the kitchen is so large it takes longer to dry.

My dd has a cupboard that has enough room just to stand between washer and dryer - then shelves above both appliances

This is the plan, the W is opposite the D and the outer cupboard wall makes part of the corridor from door into the flat, I think it’s a clever design. Much smaller than a utility but just as functional without using all the space
