DSS?

Single mother with 3 kids, in the same situation as many I suppose. We were evicted due to rent arrears and have been placed in student accommodation for 60 days. Council won’t rehouse us but will provide us with housing benefits. However finding a landlord that accepts DSS is IMPOSSIBLE. I’ve found a few but require a guarantor which I have no chance of getting. I have basically no family and no one is going to put their neck on the line for me regardless. I really don’t know what to do. Also paying more rent up front is not an option. I’m not sure if anyone has any suggestions. My eldest (21) works full time so if need be he could get a room to rent. My youngest (16) could live with her boyfriend. However me and my other son (18) would be totally fucked. My life is a shambles and I’ve thought about killing myself everyday. Is there anything I can do?

Hello OP, sorry to be the first person to answer here.

We hope you don't mind, but when we have been advised by The Samaritans to add a link to our Mental Health resources and the paragraph below whenever someone mentions ending their life. Of course we can see it's not really your primary point, and we hope that someone can advise you soon, but we do this as a matter of course.

You can also go to the Samaritans website, or email them on [email protected]. Support from other Mumsnetters is great and we really hope you will be able to take some comfort from your fellow posters, but as other MNers will tell you, it's really a good idea to seek RL help and support as well.

We also like to remind everyone that, although we're awed daily by the astonishing support our members give each other through life's trickier twists and turns, we'd always caution anyone never to give more of themselves to another poster, emotionally or financially, than they can afford to spare.
