Has anyone used Purplebricks in the Balham/Clapham South area ? If it was a good experience can you share the name of your assigned agent please ?

Not in your area but wouldn't touch them with a barge pole. Loads of hidden fees and they can't be bothered as they get paid anyway

I'm just finalising the completion of my house with purple bricks. Had no problems at all with them (buyers solicitor is another matter!!). They've been really professional and proactive throughout.

@Megmogndowl what was the name of your assigned agent ? We booked Purple Bricks to come and carry out a valuation. We agreed a date and time. Even got a confirmation email and a reminder email from them, however on the day the agent did not show up. No message or call even after the missed appointment to explain. Thus if we are to book them again I want a different local agent. Hence the reason I am asking if anyone has worked with a local agent they liked in the Balham/Clapham South area.

Bought my house through Purple Pricks and wouldn’t even go and view a house with them again. Utterly woeful

In your area I’d use Knight Frank Wandsworth or Rampton Basel’s

lastqueenofscotland · 10/02/2020 21:09

Rampton Basley that should say

I buy and sell property for a living and try and avoid looking at anything thru Purple Bricks. The few times I have the agents showing the property knew absolutely nothing - not the length of lease, not the comparative values, nothing nothing nothing. I tried to buy thru them and they told me it had to be through their website. The sellers never replied to my offer so I had to call the agent who said they would ask him to look at it and that I should 'monitor the website'. Total waste of time.

Don’t use them. They’re going through a complete shake up and loads of their local agents have left/are leaving. Portico are pretty good and they cover your area I believe.

I too wouldn't use them. A friend in Bristol paid the fees, sale agreed, but the buyers pulled out last minute. Friend ended up still paying purple bricks fees, plus having to find another agent. Its the 2nd such case I personally know of where the seller was left out of pocket for no sale!

We tried to buy a house through them, emphasis on the tried. It was 1000x harder than buying through a traditional agent as everything is solely up to you. The chain fell apart below us, not Purple Bricks fault but there was no support for buyer or seller and whilst we tried to work together to keep the chain from failing completely we were completely out of our depths. I know of friends in a similar situation where the local agents knew each other and were able to work together to sure up the chain etc. I would never even look at a house through them now.

From a buyers point of view they are absolutely woeful. We walked away from a house that we were reasonably keen on because how utterly clueless the purple bricks person was at showing us round. Knew nothing about anything in the house, real basics and we had three viewings because they kept forgetting the keys to the garden. The 3rd time he forgot them we just walked out.

Thanks for all the feedback. The verdict appears to be unanimous

We had the owner show us round a Purple Bricks listing. This is normal I gather. I wouldn’t use them. All communication was through the owner. So apart from listing it was a cut price service. The flat was in Stockwell so near Clapham.

I even had trouble making an appointment to view a property through purple bricks [cash buyer looking for an investment property].

The slots I chose each time which showed as available on the website I booked...they were then cancelled by the PB agent...that was when he got round to letting me know. No mention of the vendor being able to show me around.

I wouldn't touch them. I wonder if the vendor knows how he lost them viewings and a potential sale. The place is still on the market. I've decided to buy elsewhere.
