What type of saw would we need to shorten these bed legs?

DS wants a low-profile bed and rather than buying a new one we're thinking of cutting down the legs on his current frame (pictured). It's a relatively cheap frame, so if it goes wrong it's not the end of the world. The legs are metal, about an inch thick, and hollow. What type of saw would we need?

A metal hacksaw.

It will be extremely difficult to get the legs cut evenly though, plus you will need something to stick on the bottom (it might have these already on the ends) to stop the bed legs being too scratchy on the floor.
