Solid compact laminate worktops or 2 different worktops?

I'm planning a kitchen but still waiting for estimates for a house renovation from different builders. If I can't afford quartz worktops, I have been thinking about using compact laminate. I like the look of wood but will be having a Belfast sink so don't want wood there. The other option is laminate around the sink or even quartz and wood elsewhere. Anyone else got compact laminate or indeed a mix of work surfaces? I'm going round in circles trying to decide. Confused

I have mixed!
We have quartz around the sink and wood (iroko) in the 'dry' areas. I love the contrast
But have you also thought about a wide sit-on sink unit? I had this in a previous kitchen, again with wood in the rest of the kitchen, and it worked really well
