Moving and getting school place

Putting this is property as not sure what it comes under!

We are moving home hopefully in Easter holidays. My son is in year 2 so will need to get him in to a new school. (Moving from South London to high Wycombe).

I am worrying about getting my son into a school to be able to take his sats. How long will it take to get my son into school? From what I have read it says we can't apply for a school place until moved into the area. Is this true? Has someone gone through this process and can tell me about it or give me advice?

It looks like the local school that I want him to go to has space so hopefully that will stay that way.

Thanks :)

In most areas, I think you should be able to apply once you have legal paperwork - a tenancy agreement or have exchanged contracts. Check the In Year Admissions Policy for the school.

Does it matter if they miss their sats? It’s only year 2. It’s more like a benchmarking exercise?
