Washer and drier Space

We've just moved into a new build and have a recess space of 120cm wide for a washer and drier.
I've seen both online that I would love to order but they'd only leave 1cm of space. Do I need more room? Should I look into a washer and drier in one?
I'm totally clueless 🙈

A lot of appliances state you need clearance of 5cm around appliances. I'd see if you can find the instruction manuals for them online before buying.

It will be fine. Mine are in individual spaces and have very little clearance around them.

SisterFarAway · 31/01/2020 13:36

Do you have enough height to stack them? That could be a solution.

Go into a shop and measure yourself if you haven't already. We ordered a WM once with dimensions online from John Lewis and they were wrong!!!

JoJoSM2 · 31/01/2020 15:11

I would stack them up if possible. Alternatively, look for narrower models. One of 60cm and one narrower would work.

2 in 1 washer-dryers aren’t very good so not the best option if there’s another solution.

Thanks all!
No room to stack so we'll venture out to currys to see what they have in store to measure up.

We downsized to an apartment last year and, due to lack of space, we opted for a Bosch washer dryer.

It’s very, very quiet and has been brilliant compared to other washer dryer models we’d owned 20+ years ago.

Just something to consider.

60cm is a standard allowance for an appliance to fit. You should be fine side by side.

We have 2 DD so aren't really too sure that a washer and drier in one would be the best option. They're 19 months and 3 months now, so the amount of washing is only going to increase haha!
We really do need something though, I can't keep taking it to my mother in laws house 😂

My DDs both have washer dryers. Fine for one or two person households. Not for families. Why can you not alter the recess and put the machines one above the other? I don’t have a stacking kit but each machine has space - WM on the floor and TD above it in a cupboard with no door. What do you have above the alcove?

I have the Bosch washer dryer mentioned above. It's good, but it's nothing compared to a proper dryer. It does towels, trousers, socks and underwear fine, but I wouldn't put shirts or bedding in it (due to wrinkles). Two people? Fine. A family? You'd definitely struggle.
