So my kitchen in the house I'm buying is the same style of first photo (slightly more modern, but not much). I can't afford to fit a new one for a while so looking for affordable options in the meantime. Could these units be painted white? And I hate the built in extractor fan. Would it be simple to remove the built in one and have it like photo number 2? Haven't a clue how much this would cost, any ideas? And would it be a simple job as they seem to be all built together? TIA

If MDF you would have a lot of work to do for paint to take, primer etc and results aren't the best. Taking out extractor will leave odd.spaces each side. If you're keeping same layout which is what I did, new fronts, worktops and.backsplash. ,Heres mine, not everyones taste but I'm happy with it.

If the extractor isn't on an outside wall then replacing it for an unintegrated one will be more complicated as the cornice at the top of the units is probably hiding the ducting. Also it depends where the tiling, if there is any, goes up to how closely to wall a new extractor can be fitted. Nothing is impossible but you may decide to live with it for a couple of years then redo the whole kitchen to your taste.

@TARSCOUT your kitchen is very nice. It seems like a lot of work then. The floor tiles in my new kitchen are very nice so wouldn't need replacing. The tiles aren't too bad either. It's just the cabinets I don't like. Any ideas of prices just to replace to cabinets and new fan? Understand we would possibly have to remove all tiles? But if that was the case, we would just have minimal tiles.
