Hello,
I'm expecting a baby at end of June. We were looking for a new house/flat to rent in London, as ours is a bit small. There is plenty of choice, but everything is furnished. We are even ready to get rid of some old forniture, but how about the baby's room? We need to get rid of the bed that is given... Is it feasible to convince a landlord to remove it? What are your experiences?

Sorry but in my experience they are reluctant to remove stuff as they can’t be arsed storing it.

Our landlord said it was not possible to move the bed out of our spare room, and many of our friends had similar experiences.

The problem is they know the property will rent regardless. We were lucky our current flat is quiet sparsely furnished so we have space for our things and also has a huge cupboard in the hall where we put all the cheap crap when we moved in.

Have you tried searching on rightmove using the non/partly furnished filter. Some of the partially furnished places state the landlord is flexible and will remove or add what you need.

I would imagine it is simple business not 'can't be arsed'. Storage costs a fortune.

also a furnished flat indicates landlord coming back at some point which means you will have to move eventually. Does London REALLY not have any buy to lets?
