Mice!!

Ok...maybe just mouse at the moment.
We have those ultrasonic repeller plug ins but I was woken at 5am by the little blighter chewing in the roof (light sleeper)
Had problems last year and caught one in an old fashioned trap.
We have climbing plants all over front and side of house and DH refuses to cut them down even though I’m 100% sure that’s how the mice/mouse is coming into the roof (bedrooms are in the roof, so no attic I mean literally plaster board, insulation then the felt and tiles!)
Am I right and how can I convince DH to give the bloody plants the lop???
I know mice can scale walls but we have three variations of climber on our house

I saw a squirrel literally walk up the wall and across the edge just under the roof and down the other end of the wall of the house opposite last month, and they don't have any climbing plants or other features! So just be prepared for it not to help!
Regarding the mice maybe block up all the gaps with mesh it even mortar if it's not needed for ventilation.
