Kitchen cabinet door hinge keeps popping off!

Driving me slightly mad - I can figure out how to stop one side pinging off the other side of the hinge when I close the door.

The screws don’t hold the pieces together - it seems to slot then clip into place but won’t stay put. Any ideas?

Mine is like this (not my door but same type - and I like their numbering style!):

Check the end (the horizontal bit between 2 and 4) and compare with another door hinge - I bet you'll find that there's a bit snapped off the tip that should clip it together.

If so, it's buggered. You can get fresh whole hinges from the usual DIY shops, or you can maybe put a big screw through the centre by 3.

Mine looks whole though - the bar is complete.

Ohhhhh I’ve taken the door off now. Wish I hadn’t started this! Both hinges look the same - although the bottom one is wobbly in the door (it’s loose, so isn’t opening properly maybe as it’s on a hinge that open up as the door opens).

Ok I’m going to need my toolbox...

I think it’s fixed! So where the hinge was attached to the side of the unit is sitting snugly in a hole (so the side without numbers) and the 2 screws keep it snug. One was loose so the whole thing was slipping slightly out of the hole rather than the catch opening up properly to hinge the door.

Hopefully that’s it - I was worried that the top catch would snap with the weight of the door as it swung open on the one hinge.

Phew.

If you get more problems we've found the Hafele hinge repair plates from Screwfix really good!

Cool.

Last time a hinge went in this kitchen (A differently type - on a glass door) the handyman service I used to use tried to charge me £380 to replace the sodding thing. I had a very long and loud row with the estimator (I found the hinges in Wix at 2 for £14.95) and managed to get it done cheaper.

Glad you sorted it! Horrible things, they are.

Nah... bloody thing off this morning! Not quite as quickly but still... back to the drawing board!
