Hi all, we’re getting companies in to quote for cafe style (half coverage) for our front ground floor bay window. We’ve had two out of five companies in so far. I’m fairly confident of the style and specs, apart from material, so I’m hoping the collective wisdom on here might help me!

Essentially, the choice is MDF or wood - which one?! Any pros or cons? The MDF samples I’ve seen feel smoother and more uniform, but there’s some instinct in me that says wood is better. We’re going for pure white, and my husband is worried our toddler, armed with a stray sharpie, is going to draw all over them, so what would be best in that worst case scenario?

Thank you!

I have mdf in cream, been up nearly two years they are fabulous. I would only pay the extra for wood if I was going to leave the wood natural, ie not painted. I clean mine with a spray of bar keepers friend.

Wood can warp whereas MDF wii keep its shape.
