Fixing a vintage chandelier

I've just bought a vintage basket chandelier online. It was cheap and cheerful and has all its bits and bobs and I've worked out how to strip the old varnish off and polish it ... but the ring is awfully misshapen. It's not round and it also does not sit flat. Basically, it's cheap brass I think. Any ideas about how best to straighten it and make it more circular?

It's very lovely and I'd like to make it a bit of a feature in my bedroom.

Thank you. It is about 10” (25cm) in diameter and a couple of pictures are attached. I’ve removed the crystals.

It looks like brass or electro-plated steel. Test it with a magnet. If it is brass you can bend it back by holding firmly and pressing with your thumbs.

It is metal so must have an earth connection.

Thanks PigletJohn. It's not magnetic apart from the central shaft so likely cheap brass. I'll have a go at gentle bending and tapping with a small hammer for dents (under a cloth).

try rubbing the dents round and round with the end of a spoon-handle, starting at the edges of the dent (not the middle)

Thanks! I'll give that a go.

It's mostly worked! The ring did detach from the central pole and the spokes, but if I can't gently hammer it back then I'm pretty sure my neighbour could weld it for me. It's also not a perfect circle, but it is good enough. Thank you!

Now I soaking the old varnish off and trying to clean it up. It looks more posh already!
