Creaky floorboards...

I was planning on buying a load of floorboard nails from Screwfix and just asking a mate to bang them in before the new carpets and underlay get put down! But my Dad says you need to hire a carpenter to do it properly as they will need to make sure any pipes or wiring underneath isn't hit / damaged.

Thoughts?!

Your dad is correct! Don’t just bang nails in willy nilly. Also if the floorboards which creak are upstairs it may not be solved that simply. Ours had to be taken up individually and packed up because the house wasn’t quite level therefore they didn’t all sit flush on the joists....hence the squeaks and dips. Get a professional check at least, or if you are DIY competent take them up and have a look for areas that need repair, wires and pipes.

Thanks appreciated. I'm clearly not DIY competent lol 😊
