Public transport Coltswold

Hi, this is my first post so I hope I'm doing it right! Me and my DH are hoping to move the Coltswold. Looking in Tetbury, Dursley, and Nailsworth.

Currently living in London. Unfortunately neither of us drive. I will be planning to learn once we move, but I'm prepared for the fact it may take some doing as I'm a late learner.

So to the question 😅. For those who live in above places what is the public transport like? I know it won't compare to London, that's fine. But just trying to get an idea.

Or is their any other small towns/villages near that you could recommend as somewhere to move with ok public transport?

So appreciate any feedback.

Thanks so much

Hi Marmy
I'm not so familiar with Dursley and Tetbury but Nailsworth isn't too bad - as long as you want to get to Stroud... Other directions are more limited. There's no trains from Nailsworth so you'd have to catch a bus to Stroud if you wanted a train. There is a smallish supermarket in the town, plus a couple of convenience stores so you can get most of your everyday needs without leaving the town.
Driving is definitely preferable living outside a city, but there are still plenty of people who don't so it's manageable but not ideal.

Stroud itself has more options transport wise and might be worth considering. It all really depends where you are likely to want to travel to (for work etc).

Dursley isn’t great for public transport but isn’t awful either, it does have a bus station but nearest train station is quite far away. Nailsworth is beautiful but as PP said public transport only really good to get to Stroud (but you can get anywhere from Stroud) don’t know tetbury too well.

I’m in Stroud which isn’t far from nailsworth and there’s a bus station and train station both in the town centre, direct trains to London Paddington. Small town but has pretty much everything you need in it, very lively, weekly farmers market, lots of events.

Ahh, but no direct trains to Bristol from Stroud Joxter which is a pain when it's so close.

@GreenShadow it’s been my nearest town most of my life and I’ve lived here five years but somehow never knew that! Good to know though.

Silly isn't it! We tend to drive all the way to Cam to pick people up travelling from Bristol by train as otherwise they have to go to Gloucester or Cheltenham and then back to Stroud. Also costs a fortune.
