Problem Connecting Dishwasher Water Inlet Hose

Hi,
I've done this many times before, but for some reason in I can't tighten the hose to the valve. The thread doesn't line up, and the hose the previous owners left behind also doesn't stay on. The guys who delivered the dishwasher tried and couldn't do it either. I'll attached a picture of the valve, is there something missing?

Looks like a standard angled washing machine valve. They are all 3/4inch thread, have been for years.

Yes looks fine.
It's not too close to the wall or something and difficult to get the nut on?

Thanks, done it in the end. The valve is angled slightly towards the back of the cupboard. Made it really hard to line the thread up!
