Whateveryoudoordontdo · 01/01/2020 15:21

Who has carpets in the kitchen?

Hoppinggreen · 01/01/2020 15:23

I’m assuming you mean vinyl rather than Lino
Definitely not carpet

Hoppinggreen · 01/01/2020 15:24

And if you use sheet vinyl it’s no more expensive than carpet

squee123 · 01/01/2020 15:24

why on earth would anyone put carpet in a kitchen? Just as baffling as carpet in a bathroom

Vinyl

Ocomeocomeimaginaryfleas · 01/01/2020 15:37

Have a look at self adhesive vinyl planks, OP. They are dead easy to lay as long as the surface underneath is completely flat. B&Q do them.

Spacerader · 01/01/2020 15:40

Who would put carpet in a kitchen, the first thing I'd think when viewing your house was how much it would cost me to remove and it would be a job that would have to be done immediately

starfishmummy · 01/01/2020 15:40

We "inherited" a carpet in our kitchen when we moved in....
Even cheap vinyl would be preferable

DramaAlpaca · 01/01/2020 15:42

Just the thought of carpet in a kitchen makes me shudder.

Many years ago, on a tight budget, we bought a house with carpet tiles in the kitchen, thinking we could live with it. A week later, after several spills from our toddler and me dropping an open can of baked beans, we ripped them up and replaced them with vinyl.

theweebleshavelanded · 01/01/2020 15:44

thanks people! MIL said carpet.

I said to dh no, linos`s better!

I knew I was right :)

Hoppinggreen · 01/01/2020 17:19

Not Lino, vinyl
I always say this on these threads but there are important differences (which I won’t bore you with) .

DuchessofWoke · 01/01/2020 17:21

Who has carpet in the kitchen?

My MIL, that who. It’s gross. She also has it in the bathroom. Double gross.

scaredycatz · 01/01/2020 17:25

Never seen a carpeted kitchen before Shock

Roselilly36 · 01/01/2020 17:32

Not a fan of carpet in a kitchen personally much prefer vinyl flooring, I had ceramic tiles once, never again.
