Claygate- where to avoid ?!

Hi there lovely claygate mummies,
I’ve fallen for a property around vale road but have no idea what that corner of the area is really like as I’m relocating from the big smoke! From the few times I’ve been around the area I’ve liked it but I’ve heard a few unsettling murmurs on here that there are very rough parts !? Any input would be hugely appreciated as I’d love to put an offer in this week 😬
Thank you wise ones xxxx

I am not from the area but rough parts of Claygate sounds like an oxymoron to me. Unless you’re trying to dodge the most gossipy neighbours.

Errr Claygate is surburbia at its finest! You don’t need to worry about rough bits, worry instead about what your commute will be like to where you need to be at whatever time you would be travelling! That’s the biggest issue facing Claygate and the surrounds, total and utter gridlock!

Thanks for the helpful replies ladies - hugely appropriated! I really really hope to not sound snobbish but there’s the foxwarren area close to vale road and I wondered if there’s much disturbance from there? 😬 again, only based upon what I’ve read online x

OP, you do realise that it's not just 'mummies' and 'ladies' on MN, don't you?

Yes, yes, I know, totally off-topic, but OP appears to be new and needs to know.

😳 It is my first post and I clearly took the ‘mums’ in mumsnet literally 🤷‍♀️

I’m not that familiar with the area to be honest as I live in Scotland, but I have family who used to live on Aston Road in Claygate and when visiting I remember thinking it was impossibly lovely and quaint for being so accessible to London, beautiful place.

Thank you! It really seems to be!
