Blue kitchens

Hi,

Planning to extend and build a new kitchen. I like the look of the midnight blue ones but would worry it would date quite a bit.

The space will be 6x4.5m with lots of natural light.

Does anyone have one and if so, would they recommend?

Sara

I’ve got a blue kitchen and have to say that I got bored of it within a few months. Next one is definitely going to be neutral.

we are doing our kitchen after Christmas and went for a peal blue kitchen as the dark blue is quite intimidating and I can imagine yes it would date quite quickly, its a bold choice and if you don't like it when its installed you have spent a lot of money on something that dosent look like the vision you had, when we were house hunting one house had a bold teal coloured kitchen looked fab on rightmove, when we viewed the house it was horrible just didn't look right at all

There's a lot of choice at the moment; our principle supplier has Steel Blue, Light Blue, Oxford Blue, Indigo Blue, Sky Blue and Turquoise.

Dark blues are very fashionable but I tend to restrict my designs to having dark colours on base units (or preferably islands) while having the remainder of the kitchen in a lighter, complementary colour.

I find that most kitchens aren't well suited to full dark furniture; it tends to make them oppressive.

Mine is Hague Blue - just had it done. I'm sure it will date, as would any colour, but I don't care as we have no intention of moving. I love it!

The walls are painted Strong White, and there's plenty of natural light.

We also have a white quartz worktop, with sparkly bits in it, which helps to keep it light.

Thanks all. Some beautiful kitchens there. Really liking the two tone to break up the colour a bit by keeping the dark colour on the bottom.
