Buzzing light bulbs.

Hello was wondering if anyone could offer a solution? Our main ceiling light fittings make a buzzing noise when they are turned on, never used to be a problem with the old standard candle bulbs, they are on a dimmer switch which was done some time ago, so thinking probably not now compatible with the new bulbs, apart from installing new dimmer switches do bulbs exist that wouldn’t do this? (Not bothered if the dimmer wouldn’t work, as the lights are not used that often)
Many thanks

There are quite a selection of energy efficient bulbs available - how old are your bulbs? Go to a retailer and buy an LED bulb suitable for dimmers - Philips do them. I have one fitting that still buzzes but the others not

Thanks Some fairly new bulbs they are the energy efficient ones though just the buzzing drives me nuts, will try Phillips.

On the back of the dimmer switch there’s a twiddly bit (no idea what it’s called) but you need to adjust it according to your bulbs.

I’d put up with buzzy bulbs for bloody ages til my electrician friend popped the switch up and had a fiddle.

if your dimmer switch is old, it is unlikely to be correct for your new bulbs.

change it for a simple on/off switch and see if the noise stops.
