Brown stain on ceiling?

Pic attached. The stain is right under the boiler, but we can't see any leaking when inspecting the boiler. The stain has only appeared since we put the plant there - a hoya. Could anyone in the know tell me if this is just a coincidence, or is the stain something to do with the hoya being there? As we can't seem to see anything wrong with the boiler!

Water leak, of course.

If you can't see the leak yet, look under the upstairs floor. It may be something attached to the wall.

Agree, water leak. It's probably a pipe under the floorboards. We had one similar, and the leak was about 6 feet away from the stain. The water was leaking out and running along the pipe before dripping down further along.

Definitely a leak.

Is your boiler pipework lagged? Could be water condensing on warm pipes then dripping down - which is why you didn't see it; it happens intermittently.

What is the plant hanging from?
Is that a curtain pole or a pipe?

Aquamarine1029 · 30/11/2019 14:25

That's water damage and you need to figure out where it's coming from and quickly.

That is a water leak and is not going to caused by the plant, sorry OP.

Thanks all, just wanted to check even though it was a bit of a stupid question! Will get DH to check all over for the source of the leak, thanks!

is this upstairs room ie is the roof above? check outside to see if roof tile has slipped & inside attic -

WindFlower92 · 01/12/2019 20:06

@mumwon no, it's below the spare bedroom which has the boiler in.
