Fireplace/fire surround/gas fire help!

We have a late Victorian/early Edwardian house (built 1901/1902). When we bought it all the fireplaces were bricked up. We’be opened one but don’t know where to go from here!

We’d like a gas fire in what looks like a traditional period fireplace. Do we need a surround + cast iron insert + gas fire? Or does the fire come with the insert? Can anyone recommend somewhere that could sell and install all of it? Looking at neighbours’ ones it would probably have had a fairly simple wooden surround, maybe with corbels, and a cast iron tiled insert. But if I go down the reclaimed route does that rule out a gas fire?

I’ve tried to research online but not getting very far!

I'd go to a shop that sells gas fires/woodburners and ask. Or ask a gas fitter.

I think you could easily put in a reclaimed mantlepiece but you might be restricted with the insert.
