Why is my dishwasher growling at me?!

Hi, Does anyone know about dishwashers?

Our one has suddenly started making a noise as soon as the power is switched on. And that’s the only thing it’s doing, now! None of the controls will respond.

Even if I turn the dial to ‘off’ it will continue to growl unless it’s switched off at the mains.

It was pretty cheap so it’s unlikely to be worth repairing, but I thought I should see if anyone knows what might be wrong before I chuck it out. Maybe it’s something I can fix!

Thanks in advance Smile

Does it need to be reset?

There should be a "Reset" button which is normally on the front panel. Mine's a Bosch and the Reset Button is same as the Start
button. On mine you depress this button for 3-5 seconds and it restarts the Motherboard. If you can't see your reset button then either check your User Manual or Google for instructions for your particular model.

Really hope this helps. I had to reset mine last month as I was experiencing something similar to you and resetting cured it completely.

Good luck!

I wonder if it has detected a leak or if it is not filling with water due to a problem in the hose or tap?

How old is it?

Is it built in? Or can you pull it out from the wall and lean it back a bit?

Many modern appliances display fault codes by flashing lights or with an electronic display. You will need the instruction book to interpret it.

Hi there, thanks for answering! It’s only three years old and pretty basic. It won’t respond to the reset as instructed in the manual. It doesn’t appear to have any water in it. I tried leaning it as I read online that this might help move water pooling in the base. No joy Hmm

Thanks, Rafflesway! The reset won’t respond, so I guess the next thing to do is check the outlet pipe - hurrah!!

Just before Christmas...

Do you know what the cause was?

Brilliant news Pontefract!

I felt your pain the other day. Can't function without my dishwasher. 😁

What was it that cured the problem?
