Garage Conversion Floor and Ceiling Height

Hi,

We are about to exchange on a house which needs some work doing to it but is in the ideal location. One of our plans is to knock the kitchen and dining room into the garage to create a much larger living space.

The floor of the garage is obviously lower than the floor within the house, which doesn't seem to be too much of an issue as the floor can be raised. However, the garage ceiling is rather low, so when the floor is raised, there won't be enough height....issue is the garage has a conversion above it already.

Upstairs there is no 'drop' into the extension, it's all one level, so does that mean there's just a lot of space between the garage ceiling and the floor upstairs...and the ceiling should be able to be raised in the garage to accommodate our plans?

I know it's hard to say without seeing the property, I just want to know if anyone has had a similar challenge!
