either old or totally modern (think huff not barrat); 4 beds minimum; one that looks like it's in the arse end of nowhere but is in fact easy distance to Sheffield and/or Chesterfield; village considered but only if I can;t see it from my bedroom.

I like the bit in the blurb on hatwoman's about "L.du Garde Peach, famous writer and playwright".

Oh yes, L. du Garde Peach...that famous writer and playwright

marthamoo · 19/08/2007 23:11

I like that one too, Nadine. Baggsy that one!

hatwoman · 19/08/2007 23:11

NB Hucklow's lonely enough for me - it's right up on the moors

hatwoman · 19/08/2007 23:12

didn;t burn who suwoo?

OP posts:
NadineBaggott · 19/08/2007 23:12

yes but for a lot of dosh your neighbours are very close?

Clary · 19/08/2007 23:13

ooh hatwoman are you moving to Derbys?

How exciting you can come to Spa meet-ups and everything.

this is nice in a village tho but that's nice really, school, pub, and all...

How wonderful to have so much money to spend in this area. DH suggests you buy Chatsworth.

hatwoman · 19/08/2007 23:14

Ringinglow's looking best so far. only problem there is it's just close enough to sheff to not be considered part of any particular village...(picky aren;t I?)

You match up to Kirsty and Phil only in regard to the fact that you disregarded the brief to find somewhere remote. Nether Edge is practically central Sheffield!

NadineBaggott · 19/08/2007 23:14

hmmmm not sure

I'm from that nekc of the woods. just spent the weekend visiting and the entire journey home wondering...

Clary · 19/08/2007 23:15

Nadine that was my pick!

NadineBaggott · 19/08/2007 23:15

very swish www.rightmove.co.uk/viewdetails-15771382.rsp?pa_n=1&tr_t=buy

purpleturtle · 19/08/2007 23:15

Ringinglow is in Sheffield, surely?

Clary · 19/08/2007 23:16

Bakewell is no more remote than Matlock really.

If hatwoman wants to be in arse end of nowhere she either wants somewhere that is nowhere or (my suggestion) a small village (with resources like school, shop etc.

Not Castleton tho.

hatwoman · 19/08/2007 23:17

to teh casual obersver you wouldn;t say the Norfolk Arms was in sheffield. so I guess it depends what you mean by Ringinglow. I thin kof it as those 4/5 houses up there...but yes, in essence you;re right. I take it you're from sheff then?

My parents have identified Litton as the perfect Peak District village - school, pub, shop - but it's too expensive for them. They've just spent my inheritance on a monstrous motorhome instead.

Clary · 19/08/2007 23:19

Never mind the peaks PT, are you really moving to Nottingham? The city or its environs?

Clary · 19/08/2007 23:19
purpleturtle · 19/08/2007 23:21

Hatwoman, IMO, Ringinglow extends right down to Ecclesall Rd South.

Not actually from Sheffield as such, but have lived here since '92.

Clary, we move to Bramcote on Wednesday. Does that count as the city?

Clary · 19/08/2007 23:22

Oooh Bramcote

Maybe we could have meet-up at the pool there (never been but it looks fab, mega waterslides that DS2 would lurrrrve).

Not really the city but the right side of it (for me I mean). My dentist is in Bramcote actually, if you want a recommendation!

hatwoman · 19/08/2007 23:23

ok, my definition of arse end of nowhere is somewhere like abney or Bretton - which, contrary to appearances are about 2 miles form villages with shops, pubs and schools and about 8 miles from Sheffield and Chesterfield. (itself 2.5 hours to st Pancras) that's what's so fab about the peak district
