Washing machine leak need advice

Washing machine has started leaking, I have a cover plan so contacted them, chap came out today to have a look and apparently a new part required which he cannot fit until he gets it which will be next week. Annoying but I understand that they can’t carry every potential spare part they may need.

Anyway, apparently the leak is something to do with a part connected to the dispenser drawer which I never use.

To my shame Blush as it never occurred to me to check the drawer is black with mould. Envy yuk!

So I’m thinking it needs cleaning but as the problem/new part is somehow connected I’m worried if cleaning this will cause further problems?

I’m also unsure how to correctly clean it.

Can anyone help advise? Could the leak be to do with how minging that drawer is?

Anyone a washing machine repair person it has a spouse or friend who is they could check with? I’d be so very greatful

Just want this fixed and be able to use washing machine.

Normally you can remove the drawer to clean it. I'd wash it in hot soapy water in the sink. Also clean out the bit it fits into - I use bleach spray and an old toothbrush

Thanks for the reply. I’m just worried if I clean it now if that will cause issues with the repair?

I’d also like to know if what I’ve been told about repair sounds right that’s why I’m hoping for replies from people in the know

Depends if the repair is within the body of the machine or part of the drawer itself. Where was the machine leak coming out from? I don't see how cleaning the drawer could affect anything else in the machine

Leak seems to be coming from under machine/bottom of door but guy was insistent it was to do with some part close next to where drawer goes in.
