Voluntary registering property with Land Reigstry

we paid off mortgage years ago and the title deeds are with solicitor, however they are moving and don't have storage space, so have suggested that as our property is not registered with Land Registry we 'voluntary register our property. Is this straight forward by competing a FR1 FORM, sending title deeds and fee to Land registry or do we need to use Solicitor. They do not mention in letter that a solicitor is required to do this but would like some advice

If you can make sense of this guide:
www.gov.uk/government/publications/first-registrations/practice-guide-1-first-registrations

then do it yourself. Otherwise you might want to use a solicitor.

If you have all of the title deeds, then lodgement and completion of the FR1 is fairly straight forward, the fee is reduced for voluntary registration. Be aware of the evidence of Identity requirement. If you are lodging without legal representation you are required to supply form ID1. If you don't, the application will be rejected. It's an anti-fraud measure.
