Informing our buyer of delay of 6 to 8 weeks

Do we tell our buyer that there might be a delay of 6 to 8 weeks? All searches done and thought we were getting to setting a date but our vendor's searches bought up a planning problem that's going to take a while to sort out. They've got to apply for retrospective planning.

I think our solicitor has given their solicitor a heads up, but is there any problem with us talking directly to the vendor ??

sorry talking to our buyer not the vendor.

No that's what you're paying your solicitor for. Unless you are friends with the other party then I would keep direct comunication to a minimum.

We know the buyer - not a friend but it's a private sale, he's been messaging me recently to apologise for a small delay on his side (ironically).
