Good work @OutComeTheWolves, can imagine it was pretty stressful.

Hoping for some clarity on this in the next few days.

smiales01 · 11/05/2020 00:07

As far as I can see things can now get moving.

teaandajammydodger · 11/05/2020 01:40

I’m really worried our buyer is going to pull out!

magnarocks · 11/05/2020 19:54

Just read this. 🤷‍♀️

ESpressoNotEXpresso · 11/05/2020 20:36

That's still not very clear. What is a critical move? We have all already paid a lot of money out in solicitors and surveyors fees and if people start getting cold feet because of the delay, then I would say at this stage, it is critical. We can all put in place social distancing and take whatever measures we need to keep ourselves and others safe.

Critical house moves refers to the previous advice from 26 March.

magnarocks · 18/05/2020 07:32

Anyone moving forward with their sales and/or purchases now?

CuteOrangeElephant · 18/05/2020 07:38

We are. In 11 days and moving abroad too. It was all agreed on Friday. To say I am feeling a bit frazzled is an understatement Confused . Of course we can't exchange and complete on the same day so that's fun....

magnarocks · 18/05/2020 07:47

We're due to exchange contracts today. Buyer has been an absolute nightmare a little bit hard work throughout. Pray for me... I'm a bit nervous that they're going to try and gazunder at the last min.

CuteOrangeElephant · 18/05/2020 08:15

Magnarocks that's what I am afraid of too. Especially as we've had to quit our jobs etc.

Clarabellawilliamson · 18/05/2020 08:32

We are exchanging and completing on the 29th!! We will keep our rental until July just to give us some time to do a few jobs on the new place but I just want the keys in my hand now. I want a private garden my kids can run around in. Keep everything crossed it all goes smoothly!! 🤞

CuteOrangeElephant · 18/05/2020 08:59

@Clarabellawilliamson we are exchange/completion buddies!

NutellaOnButteryToast · 18/05/2020 09:13

We thought once the restrictions were lifted, we'd immediately be talking dates, as we were told everything was back in and we were effectively just on pause. Then the day after the announcement about the housing market, our EA tells us that someone in the chain was really dragging their heels and have actually on just raised enquiries on their onwards, so we've got to do more waiting Hmm

I'm terrified this will drag on and when we're finally ready to exchange and complete, we'll be in lockdown again.

Waiting to hear back from our solicitor today to see if they can shed some light on timescales 🤞

Good luck everyone.

Clarabellawilliamson · 18/05/2020 09:53

Good luck @CuteOrangeElephant are you moving same day too?

@NutellaOnButteryToast I hope you hear soon!

I need to start phoning removals companies, do we think they will still be offering a packing service?

magnarocks · 18/05/2020 15:27

And we're exchanged, hurrah.

Tulipvase · 18/05/2020 15:34

The removal companies I have spoken to aren’t offering a packing service. Makes sense really.

NutellaOnButteryToast · 18/05/2020 15:54

@Tulipvase, I agree. Definitely makes sense. It's one thing loading boxes into a van, quite another to touch all your things before boxing. I definitely wouldn't want this service right now, even if it were offered.

Congrats @magnarocks

Does anyone know the average time for enquiries to come back? I can't remember how long ours took or at what stage it took place. We've been ready to go for bloody ages!

Our solicitor has just said the same as our EA, that that's what's left to do.

Getting very anxious and inpatient now. Can you tell? 😳

LuluFireray · 18/05/2020 16:25

@nutellaonbutterytoast I'm in the same position! Enquiries were raised mid April and we got an email about a week later saying "some" had been answered but they're still waiting on a few. Just getting irritated with the vague emails about how they can't give an expected time because of the currently climate 🙄

Fern204 · 18/05/2020 16:33

Joining back in. Having been on the market since May last year, three buyers, chains falling apart, offers on five different houses and a survey from hell on one of them. We now have our original buyer with a different chain, and another house offer accepted.
There are ten in the chain, we have our mortgage offer, and are waiting for contracts and searches. Holding my breath to hear that the chain is still intact as solicitors and estate agents get back to work properly today.
Will be so glad when it's all over.

teaandajammydodger · 19/05/2020 01:47

Waiting to hear from our buyer.....

Rhapsodyinpurple · 19/05/2020 06:36

So are we. The bottom of the chain are currently arguing about a £50 indemnity policy, which has held things up for at least 2 weeks now.

Joans3rddaughter · 19/05/2020 06:48

If there was an argument about a 50 quid indemnity policy at the start of the chain, I would pay it for them to get it moving. We had to pay for 2 x indemnity policies when we moved last November, £200 each. I cannot even remember what the second policy was for. Our buyer insisted on them. I think they are a money making scam. Has anybody ever claimed on one of these?.
Probably will be an indemnity mis selling market eventually. Good Luck getting it sorted out.

Rhapsodyinpurple · 19/05/2020 08:21

@Joans3rddaughter I've offered! Waiting to see if it is possible to do this. They say they are desperate to move too. Gah.
