Glossy kitchens - tell me i have not made a huge mistake!

Know this has been done but think i am hoping for a different answer.
I have placed and order for a dark blue glossy kitchen which i loved - searched everywhere for a blue one. Was in someones house last night with a black glossy kitchen and she said it was a pita! Constant fingermarks and endless cleaning.

Feel now i have made a big mistake. I can possibly change the colour but dont want white since the worktops are white and i am afraid it wont match - and my last kitchen was white and i wanted a change.

No children in the house and only two adults so hoping that will make a difference. Or will i just look at it and order takeaways forever!

How have your gloss kitchens been?

Hi SeaSidePebbles

It was a local company, I am in the NW. I don't know where you are but I could PM you the company if you want?

It is glass yes. You have to chose your colour and they then spray the back of the glass. They have technology that can match any colour you want.

I got about 30 sample pots of grey but none of them were right. I ended up one day just mixing a few together and bingo!

The other thing I would recommend - make sure the company gives you a bit of their glass to try the samples on as the colours can look different on the glass than on a well etc

Thanks Morley, I couldn’t be further away if I tried 😂. It’s one of those things I keep putting off because it’s so time consuming. That’ll be on my to do list for the new year.

@Humphriescushion I got matte navy kitchen from wren in jan and absolutely love it

57Varieties · 07/11/2019 10:31

I have a navy blue high gloss kitchen and it’s fine. However, we ended up getting one with slim handles as opposed to the handleless we’d originally wanted, as I do think that would have been much worse.

Humphriescushion · 07/11/2019 10:51

@mrssunshinexxx oh thats good to know. Does it have handles?

@mrssunshinexxx that is lovely, feeling much better now about the whole thing. Can i ask if you know what colour that is since it is the perfect colour. And what is the worktop. I have ordered dekton azur and that looks similar.

That makes all the difference, I don’t they will be a problem at all.

I bet they will look fab.

MeTheCoolOne · 07/11/2019 11:31

I wouldn’t have handles.

mrssunshinexxx · 07/11/2019 12:57

@Humphriescushion the worktop is quartz in style Carrara.
The units are midnight blue but it is a specialist colour from wren that exact colour anyway sure you can get very similar from elsewhere hope that helps x

Humphriescushion · 07/11/2019 15:35

That helps @mrssunshinexxx thanks. I have some paint strips and liked midnight blue a lot so is good to see in the actual kitchen. And your worktop is very similar so thanks.
The colour for the kitchen in the photos is farrow and ball matched in railways which is nearly black and maybe too scary for me but love midnight blue.

I have a mid grey high gloss handle less kitchen. It is supposed to be smudge proof, and is mostly but areas that get a lot of action - fridge opening etc does get finger prints. But it is only those corner areas that need to cleaned regularly and can be done in a few seconds with a micro fibre cloth and wind he cleaner. This kitchen is much easier to clean than my previous Matt cream kitchen,

Rafflesway · 07/11/2019 17:01

I have a champagne gloss kitchen which is now 12 years old and still looks fantastic.

I clean mine with Ecover multi action spray and kitchen roll. Brilliant for leaving a smear free finish.
