Tarmac or Resin bound stone for driveway?

Our driveway is very old tarmac that’s in a terrible state. We need to dig it all up, get a new sub base and new top layer. We have quotes for tarmac and resin bound gravel and the price is very similar, I prefer the look of resin bound gravel but it’s a newer product. Does anyone have any good/bad feedback on the resin? Any issues? Does it last? Thanks.

It it really similar? If it is I would really go for resin bound (not resin bond though)

I have just (had) build a new house and I would love resin bound but have been assured it is twice as expensive as tarmac. If I can get it for tarmac prices (or have to pay resin bound prices for tarmac) then I will definitely be getting resin bound.

I will would get a number of different companies to quote before making up my mind

I was expecting the resin bound to be a lot more expensive but it isn’t. Most of the cost is the sub base so what we put on top doesn’t make a huge difference to the price. Our drive is quite big (fits 5 cars) and the difference in price is about £300. I’m just worried that resin is too new to know the long term durability. If anyone has had problems I’d be keen to know.

There is 3 types of stone decorative surfacing products. Resin bound ,resin bonded and colas leochip vls. They all have their own properties and all are as good as each other depending on application. But they do vary in price and the most expensive is not necessarily the best. All 3 products still require a similar sub base to lay on. Get back if you would like anymore help
