Hello I am new here, but have been getting lots of ideas for my kitchen/family room/dinning room Reno.
The builder we are leaning towards is highly recommended and does everything start to finish. The quote from him is £20500 + vat.
This is based on structural engineer plans, basically will be making two rooms into one.
It will be approximately 5 x 5 metres. I am in Bristol.
What do you all think?

@Peggy15. It is impossible for anyone on here to say as we know nothing about the detaIl. If this is purely knocking out a wall and putting in an RSJ, then it sounds very Zoe's I've. If it includes kitchen, wiring etc then it may be a different situation.

Having a builder recommended is good but make sure you have a clear specification agreed with him as exactly what he will (and importantly what he won't be) doing. Attach this as an appendix to a contract as well

Thank you, it is difficult. I think it probably is a good quote, just it is a big decision.

If it includes everything like building work, moving services, flooring, appliances plus supplying and fitting a new kitchen then the quote doesn’t look unrealistic. It costs more than you think.

Of course as PP said it will depend on stuff like no of units, what units they are, worktop materials etc. Once you start putting in fancy extras like wine fridges and curved units these can cost ££££s extra.

Best thing to do would be to get another couple of builders/ kitchen fitters to give you quotes based on the spec you have given your first builder.
