Cat smell in a house with no carpets

So we just saw a house that we liked, but the owners have 4 cats. There are no carpets anywhere and the flooring is all bamboo, which has recently been changed My partner did not smell it, but as I am 16 weeks pregnant I can still smell the cats.
We are not allergic, but I do not like the smell!!

Would you say we can get rid of the smell if we were to buy it?
I would not be able to live in it with the smell, though.

I have to say it was really clean and the house was perfectly maintained

Do you mean it smells of cat wee? If they are using litter trays they will smell with four cats. Simply removing the trays will cure that. The new flooring makes me wonder if they have a problem with the cats weeing or spraying and have removed carpets but not treated floorboards before the new flooring was laid. Impossible to know without asking them directly and even then they might not tell you and could be offended.

Cleaning all the floors with white vinegar and water mix will do the trick, it dries odourless and neutralizes any animal smells.
Airing it out will also help, leave all the windows open and let the air circulate for a day.

Washing down everything with a solution of biological washing powder should break it down.

My MIL had a load of cats with litter trays - I couldn’t go in the house. Her floors are high quality laminate. She moved into a home 2 years ago. I scrubbed that house from top to toe with every proprietary cleaning fluid going......2 years later I can still sniff it. Think it has gone down the cracks of flooring. Might be because you are pregnant.

Thank you everyone! I forgot to say that they seem to only open the windows during the summer as there were nets on all of the windows 'so that they don't jump through them' !!! So wonder if they are to leave some open before we potentially go for an2nd viewing would have made a difference

@wowfudge I am not sure if it's wee. I am not fond of cats, don't know much about them apart from petting one occasionally if visiting someone who has them. A friend of mine said that cats would generally not pee where they live, don't know...

@Innishh This is what I am scared of. If I know for sure that after a thorough clean, it will be fine, then perfect, but if not, I'll go crazy. I have a thing for smell even when not pregnant!!ConfusedConfusedConfused
It wasn't REALLY bad, but enough for me to be happy to get out

I can generally ask why they changed the floor as it was not done all at once anyway
