Boring alert! Kitchen flooring.

Not exciting for a Friday night I know but..
What flooring fo you have in your kitchen?? We're moving and need to get our flooring ordered, we've had a quote for solid wood flooring but its £££££. We're worried about spending alot on it with the potential for water damage or scratching as the table and chairs will be on it, does anyone have it? Other options are laminate (but the worries are the same with that as the wood I guess), or LVT vinyl flooring - again, does anyone have this or know much about it?

I have been told vinyl fades in sunlight........

ItsOurTime · 18/10/2019 21:49

Ah..hadn't heard that so that's useful thank you.

Look at guarantees. I'm going for LVT tiles, Amtico if I can afford it.

Dinosauraddict · 19/10/2019 03:25

Traditional vinyl fades but LVT doesn't. That's what I put in our kitchen last year - it's easy to clean and durable (we have dogs).

We have dark wood floorboard design LVT. We've got it in the bathroom too, have had it for 3 years and love it. It looks like wood but is better in the damp environments and warmer underfoot too.

Just had Amtico Spacia Parquet Pale Ash laid in my kitchen, it looks great and much better than I was expecting even!

Got it from Lifestyle Flooring who had it at a very reasonable price!

MaisyMary77 · 19/10/2019 11:46

We’ve got amtico click smart stone bottocino cream.

It looks nice.

I got mine from Magnet kitchens for less than half price.

when we get our kitchen done we are going for ceramic floor tiles as i had these in my last kitchen and loved them, only downside was having to stay out of the kitchen till the floor dried

ItsOurTime · 19/10/2019 20:44

Thanks so much everyone for the replies. I think we're going for the LVT. @Dinosauraddict we have a dog so that's good to know.

@ItsOurTime we actually have 3 dogs and the LVT works so well we've now put it in our lounge, dining room etc too. We used to have solid oak flooring throughout the downstairs, but I found that it got scratched by the dogs (and by them dropping things off the sofa onto the floor), and I can never ever keep carpet clean with 3 dogs!

ItsOurTime · 19/10/2019 22:43

@Dinosauraddict honestly, thank you so much you've really helped make up my mind! It was solid oak we were thinking about. We're hoping there will be LVT with similar colouring.

Thanks from me too! I'm currently looking for flooring and this has been so useful.
