What colour would you paint this unit?

Shelving unit is being built above it, through which you will see the painted wall. Walls are painted Valspar Blown Glass. I thought white but I’m not sure if that might be a bit much as it’s quite a large unit in what is not a particularly huge room but I’m struggling to think outside the box. I’m interested in any ideas!

What colour would you paint this unit?

I'd do for an off white colour, not bright white as I think it will look clinical.

I would do the units and shelves all in the exact same colour as the walls .

I'd match the woodwork, is it a little bit creamy?

hexagon01 · 18/10/2019 18:59

@DustyDoorframes the door frame is but only because it hasn’t been painted yet (it was all magnolia, door frame only has an undercoat on at the moment). Everything else is white.

I'd go for a darker blue colour

Knittedfairies · 19/10/2019 17:52

I'd paint it the same colour as the walls too; it's quite a big feature so painting it to match the wall would mean it wouldn't dominate the room.

maybe the door panels to match the walls, and the framing wood or white.

I wouldn’t paint it just now at all. Live with it for a few weeks/months and figure out what you need it to do/look like and then go from there. If everything else is white you might well find that you need something to add a bit of warmth (which would easily be done by cladding it in some wood effect or similar), live with it for a while and then have a browse on Pinterest for ideas. Just painting it seems so boring.

Id go for a bright yellow..or maybe a navy shade.

I would do a dark teal on the borders with cream in the middle rectangles.
