New en suite, bathroom and kitchen

Now I'm in sight of completion on my new house - yay!!!! - my thoughts have turned to the improvements I will need to make fairly early on. However I have NO idea how to start!! First has to be the en suite - current shower is small single person sized but plenty of room for a double shower - power shower would be great! Bathroom needs bath putting back in with shower over. Kitchen will be a bigger project so leave that for now.

Where do I start? Do I go to Wickes or somewhere? Or find a plumber? Who does the electrics? (no points for pointing out 'an electrician'!! Grin) Who manages the project? Will I save much money if I do some of the grunt work myself ie removing existing tiles?

All tips and advice gratefully received Grin

Go on Houzz.co.uk and look for various trades local to you. Also consider a freelance concept planner who can steer you in all directions re the overall layouts etc. That way the trades can see what you are trying to achieve . Take these layouts to various places to get like for like quotes and choose a supplier based on cost and service etc. Book a holiday while it's all being done ( probably not a great idea unless you are really rich and have a full time project manager onboard) come home and have a party to celebrate.

I would recommend that if you can, live in the house first before you do any major work. This will give you time to fully understand what you would like to do to the place how you want to use the space.

What we have done to our house now isn't what we wanted to do when we bought the place 6 years ago.

In the meantime, Houzz, pinterest and instagram home accounts for inspiration
