Bed over stair box

Has anyone ever done one of these? If so, how did it go? Really want to do this in our box room and a structural engineer said it should be fine, but the cupboard currently there is made out of concrete (No idea why) and I am petrified that by smashing it out it will cause massive damage to the loft room above.

Do you mean the base of the bed is made of concrete, or the wall cupboard? Sounds bizarre.

We have done variations of this, it worked brilliantly for us.

Oh wow I’d love to do this! It would totally transform my box room - placemarking incase anyone else has inspo !!

The wall cupboard that is currently over the stair box. Everything in our house is constructed from breeze blocks unnecessarily! We have just had a loft conversion done and the airing cupboard was bomb proof and almost impossible to get rid of!

The stairbox is behind the pink triangular bit in the photo, right?

If you look on google for images of "built in bed over bulkhead" you should get lots of ideas. You just need a good carpenter.

That is a fantastic idea, I was going to do something like that at our house but there wasn't quite enough length. Can you not keep the concrete bit and just build the bed above it?
