Vaillant boiler F28 (gas has been off). Help please.

Had the gas turned off yesterday to check for a leak, the appliance has been turned off.

However, have just found that the boiler is off, and not sure whether to try to start it. There is a skinny lever by the gas pipe that leads from the meter, not sure which position is should be in.

Am I safe to try to start the boiler?

Do I need to check anything on the meter which is in the garage next to the house, the lever thingy is inside the house on the other side of the wall to the garage where the meter is?

@PigletJohn if you are around please?
Anyone?

Can you post a pic

Thanks Hammy, have found a torch and it looks as if the lever is on. Just not sure if it is safe to try to start the boiler?

Have found a pic online of the lever thingy and it is on (up).

has the gas been turned back on by a competent person after testing and rectifying the leak?

Partner says try starting the boiler, I am wary.

Thanks PigletJohn.

The person that turned it off was one of the 2 that came to service the boiler and megaflow earlier this year. He checked the meter and turned off the leaking appliance (hob), then put the lever back in place before he left. Neither of us gave a thought to the boiler.

Just need to know if it is OK to go and restart it, if it will?

I am not a gasman, but I think OK. If air got into the pipes it may not light on the first attempt.

As you indicate, gastap levers are "on" when the lever is in line with the pipe. They are often painted yellow (blue is cold water)

Thank you.
It is OK, boiler started and house not blown up.
