Woodford and Woodford Green - what's it like?

I had a thread a couple of months ago where I got some very useful advice on Wanstead so I'm coming back to plunder the hivemind on a new area.

We're seriously considering a house on the Woodford Green side of Higham's Park (priced out of Wanstead, sob). The house itself is gorgeous and we really like the park, but know v little about the surrounding area and I'm hoping MN might be able to enlighten me. What's it like to live there?

I'm also pretty clueless about schools - DD has just started reception here in Hackney so we'd be looking at an in-year transfer - is that going to be impossible? Also have DS, nearly 1 year old, and would probably be looking for nursery or childminder for him. DH and I both work full time so we'll have to have some kind of wraparound care for DD, ideally very close to wherever DS is so that we don't have to trail round multiple childcare providers at the start and end of every day!

Any insight most gratefully received!

For school transfers, you need to ring the local authority and ask about vacancies. They have to offer you a place if you move but it might not be close by or at a desirable school. Obvs you could get lucky.

@FreiasBathtub

Did you end up making the move? How are you finding it?

We are currently thinking of moving to the same area.

@remzie27 we did! Love it. So glad. Definitely miss aspects of Hackney but overall this has been such a good move for our family. PM me if you have any questions, happy to tell you more!
